Spring is here and America is celebrating 250 years! Please join us at West Holt Public School on May 19th at 6:30pm. The Kindergarten through 6th graders will be providing some great entertainment to end our school year. They’ve worked hard and would love to share their talents with you. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health is something we all have—it includes our feelings, thoughts, and how we handle challenges. In the elementary, students learn simple skills like belly breathing, positive self-talk, and asking for help when needed.
Families play an important role, too. Talking about feelings, keeping routines, and spending time together can help children feel supported and confident.
This week, your child will bring home this Mental Health Awareness Calendar—try a few activities together as a family! Even small moments can make a big difference during this busy time of year.

Every Monday leading up to graduation, I’ll (Mrs. Ruppert) be sharing West Holt seniors and their plans for what comes next. Here are this week’s seniors. Thank you to Mrs. Kraus and her Yearbook class for creating these pictures using AI and thank you, Amber Shane, for allowing us to use the school pictures in this process. It was a great way for students to learn about AI creation and copyright issues with this quickly evolving technology.
This time of year brings so many emotions. As a school counselor, it is truly a privilege to watch these students grow—not just academically, but as people. I’ve seen them face challenges, celebrate successes, and become the young adults they are today.
It’s bittersweet knowing I won’t see them in the halls much longer. Letting them go is never easy.
But more than anything, I feel incredibly proud. They are ready—ready to take on new challenges and create their own paths.
It’s a little scary to “push them out of the nest,” but it is also beautiful to watch them spread their wings and fly.
