Four Meets, Four Championships!
The winning streak continues! The West Holt Speech Team had another outstanding showing of their talents! We competed at Burwell High School this past Saturday, Feb. 11th. The novice and varsity were combined for scoring for this meet, but separate awards were given for scoring the highest out of the novice in each event. Again, we came home victorious with another team trophy!
To begin, we had two duets compete this weekend. Sam Coffin and Aubrei Clouse placed fourth; Hannah Olson and Teagan Butterflied placed third. In entertainment, Hannah Olson fourth and Madeline Rentschler runner-up. We placed first and second in extemp: Sidney Burkenshaw runner-up and Brooklyn Butterfield champion! Teagan Butterfield was third in humorous prose. In informative, Aubrei Clouse third and Sidney Burkenshaw champion! Again, we took the top two spots in persuasive: Maci Nemetz runner-up and Lily Vogel champion! We represented well in poetry: Morgan Mitchell fifth, Iris Sanchez third, and Violet Schwagger champion! In POI Olivia Nelson fifth and Violet Schwagger runner-up. Finally in serious prose, David Armstrong fifth, Madysen Kramer fourth, and Alyssa Dobias top novice performer.
This was the last meet before the NVC conference meet, which will be held Feb. 15th and hosted by Summerland. We had a great opportunity to polish up our performances this past weekend. Also, we will attend the Creighton Speech Invite on Friday, Feb. 17th. It will be a busy week for the West Holt Speech Team, but we are hoping to see more improvements and come home with great results!
