The West Holt Speech Team performed outstandingly at the Eagle Classic Speech Invite this past Friday. The meet was held at Lutheran High Northeast. We came home with a runner-up trophy! The competition that we faced was top-notch, and it was exactly what we needed to prepare for districts. This was the last regular season meet before we host districts on Monday, March 6th.
The varsity and novice were combined for this meet, and there were several competitors in each event. In extemp, Brooklyn Butterfield fifth, Sidney Burkinshaw fourth, and Carter Gotschall runner-up! Violet Schwager placed third in POI. In persuasive, Madalyn Pistulka sixth and Maci Nemetz third. The OID team of Mary Hamilton, Sidney Burkinshaw, Nate Cambras, Carter Gotschall, and Abigail Thiele placed fifth. In poetry, Iris Sanchez sixth and Violet Schwager fifth. Sidney Burkinshaw placed third in informative. Hannah Olson placed fourth in entertainment. Lastly, in humorous prose, Teagan Butterfield sixth, Abigail Thiele fifth, and Mary Hamilton runner-up!
Overall, we saw lots of competition at this meet, and we were able to polish our performances for the most important meet of the year: districts. Stay tuned for results from the C1-5 district meet held at West Holt Public Schools beginning at 9:00 a.m on March 6th.
