September 19, 2021

The West Holt Junior High Volleyball teams traveled to Ainsworth on Saturday, September 18, 2021, to play in the Ainsworth JH Volleyball tournament held at Ainsworth High School and the Ainsworth Community Center.  West Holt entered 4 teams in the tournament.  Two 8th grade teams entered the “A” division and two 7th grade teams entered the “B” division.  The following are available results from all contests.  Some statistics and scores were unavailable due to a lack of personnel records and teams playing in different locations.

7th grade (B division) results:

TEAM 7.4: West Holt started off with the 7.4 team taking on the 7th grade Ainsworth team.  The team was made up of Shauna Battles, Taylor Gardner, Madisyn Hilkemeier, Kearston Keogh, Blair Stracke, Harlow Stracke, and Adryna Worlds. West Holt won in two exciting sets 25-20 and 28-26.  Scoring for the Lady Huskies vs Ainsworth were: Taylor Gardner 10 points (7 ace serves), Adryna Worlds 6 points (4 ace serves), Blair Stracke 4 points (4 ace serves), Shauna Battles 2 points (1 ace serves), Kearsten Keogh 2 points (2 ace serves), Harlow Stracke 1 point (1 ace serve).  That moved them on to the winner’s bracket where they faced Stuart. Stuart was too much for WH and the Lady Huskies dropped that match.  (Scores unavailable).  The 7.4 team would then meet the West Holt 7.3 team in a match for 3rd place. The 7.4 team lost to their teammates, the 7.3 team 15-25, 10-25 earning them a 4th place finish in the “B” Division Tournament. Leading scorers for the 7.4 team vs the 7.3 team were: Shauna Battles with 4 points, Madisyn Hilkemeier with 1 point and Harlow Stracke with 1 point.

TEAM 7.3: West Holt’s 7.3 team started their day playing the 7th grade team from North Central.  The 7.3 team was made up of: London Konrad, Bethany Leisy, Emersyn Mlady, Kayli Monasterio, Taylor Schaaf and Maggie Stracke.  West Holt beat the Lady Knights 25-20 and 25-22 moving them into the winner’s bracket as well.  Leading scorers for West Holt in that match were unavailable. Ace serves were tracked by WH’s coach and were as follows: Bethany Leisy with 6, Maggie Stracke with 6, London Konrad with 4, Kayli Monasterio with 1 and Taylor Schaaf with 1.  The team then took on a 7th-grade team from Winner, SD.  Unfortunately, Winner was too much for the 7.3 team and WH lost 15-25 and 15-25.  Scoring for WH were: Bethany Leisy with 6 points, Taylor Schaaf with 5 points, London Konrad with 2 points and Emersyn Mlady with 1 point.  The loss put the 7.3 team meeting up with the WH 7.4 team playing for 3rd place.  The 7.3 team was too much for the 7.4 and they won in two sets 25-15 and 25-10 earning them 3rd place in the “B” Division Tournament.  Leading scorers in the win were: Bethany Leisy with 15 points, Maggie Stracke with 6 points, Kayli Monasterio with 4 points, Taylor Schaaf with 3 points, and London Conrad with 3 points.
