West Holt 8th Graders Participate in Career Workshop

Mrs. Ruppert

November 19, 2022

The West Holt 8th grade class traveled to Norfolk on Tuesday, November 8th for a Career Workshop hosted by Northeast Community College.  The students took online assessments prior to the workshop in which they explored their personal strengths, interests and values.  The students were given the results of their online assessments and then explored possible career choices that matched their strengths, interests and values.  They also participated in a “real life” budget activity where they were given a card with a career listed along with the salary information for that career. Students, then, had to research and find housing, transportation and meal plans that fit the budget for that particular career.

Following the career workshop, students ate lunch and toured the Northeast Community College campus.
