West Holt Lady Huskies Chalk Up 2 Wins & Knocks Off #3 Seed, EPPJ

The West Holt varsity volleyball team opened up the Niobrara Valley Conference tournament at St. Boniface Gymnasium, in Elgin, Monday evening vs the #11 seed, Chambers-Wheeler Central. WH was seeded #6 in the 12-team tournament and made fast work of the Lady Renegades from CWC sweeping them in 3 sets: 25-6, 25-12, 25-14. Scoring against CWC were: Ainsley Galyen with 16 points (1 ace), Abby Davis with 12 points (4 aces), Makinley Cadwallader with 8 points (2 aces), EmiLee Walnofer with 6 points (2 aces), Maci Nemetz with 5 points (1 ace), and Kimberly Wettlaufer with 5 points (2 aces).
The win moved the Lady Huskies on to the next round to face the #3 seed, Elgin Public/Pope John that same evening.

West Holt was looking to avenge a loss to the Lady Wolfpack earlier in the season. The Lady Huskies, did just that, beating the Class D-1 contenders in 4 sets: 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22. Leading scorers for WH were: Ainsley Galyen with 17 points (1 ace), Maci Nemetz with 10 points (1 ace), Kimberly Wettlaufer with 8 points (1 ace), Lainey Smith with 6 points, Abby Davis with 4 points (1 ace), and EmiLee Walnofer with 2 points. The win moves WH into the semi-finals, where they will face Stuart on Tuesday, October 18th @ 7:30 PM.
West Holt is now 15-11 on the season.
