West Holt Lady Huskies vs North Central Lady Knights

    The West Holt C, JV and Varsity hosted North Central, Thursday October 13th beginning at 4 PM.  The evening honored the two seniors on the team, EmiLee Walnofer and Maci Nemetz.  Both have been four-year letter winners and starters for the Husky Volleyball program.  The entire volleyball team and players’ parents were also recognized.

 

    In the opening C match, West Holt won in two sets: 25-11, 25-12. Scoring for the Huskies were: Pavan Larson with 12 points (8 aces), Taylor Walnofer with 6 points (1 ace), Leah Fritz with 5 points (1 ace), Maria Mora Gallardo with 4 points (2 aces), Monica Chavez with 3 points and Madalyn Pistulka with 1 point. The win brings the C team’s record to 4-1.

 

    In the JV match, West Holt handed North Central a loss by beating them in two sets: 25-14, 25-14.   Serving it up for West Holt were: Cadey Schaaf with 12 points (3 aces), Makenna Schaaf with 6 points (1 ace), Pavan Larson with 5 points (4 aces), Taylor Walnofer with 4 points and Sidney Burkinshaw with 2 points. The WH JV team stands at 18-1.

 

    In Varsity action, North Central came to play but West Holt was too much for them.  The Lady Huskies beat the Lady Knights in four sets: 19-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-12. 

 

    EmiLee Walnofer reached a milestone in the game posting her 1000th career dig!

 

    Leading behind the serving line in the effort were: Lainey Smith with 17 points (4 aces), Ainsley Galyen with 9 points, Maci Nemetz with 8 points (2 aces), Abby Davis with 7 points (1 ace), Kimberly Wettlaufer with 6 points (1 ace), EmiLee Walnofer with 3 points, and Makenna Schaaf with 1 point (1 ace).

 

    West Holt’s varsity record stands at 13-11 going into the conference tournament next week where they are the #6 seed.  Their first conference tournament match is scheduled for Monday, October 17th at 6:15 PM vs #11 seed, Chambers/Wheeler Central.  The winner of that game will take on #3 seed, Elgin/Pope John at 7:30 PM.  Both matches will be played in Elgin at St. Boniface Gym.
