West Holt JHVB 8.1 Finishes as Runner-up in “A” Division West Holt Volleyball Tournament, 7.3 takes 3rd place in “B” Division to end the Junior High Volleyball Season

    The West Holt Junior High Volleyball teams hosted a Junior High Volleyball tournament Saturday, October 9th to finish their season.  Teams in the “A” (8th Grade) division were: Two West Holt teams (8.1 and 8.2), Ainsworth, Stuart, O’Neill, and North Central.  Teams in the “B” (7th Grade) division were:  Two West Holt teams (7.3 and 7.4), Ainsworth, O’Neill, Burwell, North Central and Valentine. The following are available results from all contests. 


7th grade (B division) results:

    TEAM 7.4: West Holt started off with the 7.4 team taking on North Central 7th grade.  The West Holt team was made up of Shauna Battles, Taylor Gardner, Madisyn Hilkemeier, Blair Stracke, Megan Alder and Adryna Worlds. West Holt lost in two sets 12-25 and 24-26.  Scoring info for the Lady Huskies vs North Central was not available.   That moved them on to the consolation bracket where they faced Ainsworth. Ainsworth was too much for WH and the Lady Huskies dropped that match in two sets 20-25 and 13-25. Scoring for West Holt were Shauna Battles with 6 points, Taylor Gardner with 4 points, Adryna Worlds with 2 points and Megan Alder with 1 point. 


    TEAM 7.3: West Holt’s 7.3 team started their day playing the 7th grade team from Burwell.  The 7.3 team was made up of: Bethany Leisy, Emersyn Mlady, Kayli Monasterio, Taylor Schaaf, Harlow Stracke and Maggie Stracke.  West Holt beat the Lady Longhorns 25-10 and 25-16 moving them into the winner’s bracket.  Leading scorers for West Holt in that match were: Maggie Stracke with 12 points (7 ace serves), Bethany Leisy with 8 points (5 ace serves), Taylor Schaaf with 7 points (3 ace serves), Harlow Stracke with 3 points (1 ace serve), Emersyn Mlady with 2 points (2 ace serves) and Kayli Monasterio with 1 point. The win pitted the team against a tough 7th grade O’Neill team.  WH lost 11-25 and 10-25.  Scoring for WH were: Taylor Schaaf with 5 points, Emersyn Mlady, Bethany Leisy and Kayli Monasterio all with 1 point.   The loss put the 7.3 team meeting up with the Valentine in a game for 3rd place.  The 7.3 team was too much for the Lady Badgers of Valentine and they won in two sets 25-12 and 25-23 earning them 3rd place in the “B” Division Tournament.  Leading scorers in the win were: Maggie Stracke with 10 points, Kayli Monasterio with 9 points, Emersyn Mlady with 3 points, Taylor Schaaf with 3 points, Bethany Leisy with 3 points and Harlow Stracke with 1 point.


8th grade “A” Division Results:

    TEAM 8.2: West Holt’s 8th grade 8.2 Team was made up of: Maria Mora-Gallardo, Aleigha Ogden, Morgan Schaaf and Brinley Kerkman (7th grade), London Konrad (7th grade) and Morgan Mitchell. The 8.2 game began their day taking on O’Neill and unfortunately lost in 2 sets 11-25 and 21-25.  The loss moved them into the consolation bracket where they met the Lady Bulldogs from Ainsworth.  West Holt lost the match in two well-played sets 21-25, 18-25.  The loss ended the day for the 8.2 Lady Huskies.  Leading scorers in the effort were: Morgan Mitchell with 5 points (1 ace serve), Aleigha Ogden with 3 points (2 ace serves), Morgan Schaaf with 3 points, London Konrad with 3 points (3 ace serves), Maria Mora-Gallardo with 2 points, and Brinley Kerkman with 1 point (1 ace serve).


    TEAM 8.1: The West Holt 8.1 team was made up of: Monica Chavez, Ava Hoffman, Pavan Larson, Avery Nemetz, Madalyn Pistulka and Taylor Walnofer.  The 8.1 team began their day taking on Ainsworth and winning in two sets 25-14 and 25-18.  Leading scorers in the game were: Monica Chavez with 14 points (4 ace serves), Pavan Larson with 6 points (3 ace serves), Madalyn Pistulka with 5 points (2 ace serves), Ava Hoffman with 3 points (1 ace serve), Taylor Walnofer with 2 points (1 ace serve) and Avery Nemetz with 1 point (1 ace).  The win moved the 8.1 into the winner’s bracket where they met North Central.  West Holt won in two sets 25-19, 25-19. Leading scorers for the Lady Huskies were: Pavan Larson with 11 points (6 ace serves), Taylor Walnofer with 10 points (4 ace serves), Madalyn Pistulka with 4 points (3 ace serves), Monica Chavez with 2 points (2 ace serves), Ava Hoffman with 2 points (1 ace serve) and Avery Nemetz with 1 point.    The win over North Central moved the WH 8.1 team into the championship game where they would meet O’Neill.  The Lady Huskies went back and forth with the Lady Eagles team and O’Neill won in three sets 25-11, 22-25 and 17-19.  West Holt took home runner-up medals. Scoring in the championship were: Ava Hoffman with 17 points (7 ace serves), Avery Nemetz with 6 points (1 ace serve), Pavan Larson with 5 points (2 ace serve), Monica Chavez with 4 points, Madalyn Pistulka with 1 point (1 ace serve) and Taylor Walnofer with 1 point.
