West Holt Golfers Play in Valentine

Coach Kuchar

September 22, 2021

West Holt headed west to Frederick’s Peak Golf Course in Valentine on September 21st to play in their invitational. The tournament featured Valentine, West Holt, Ainsworth, O’Neill, Gordon-Rushville, and Mullen.

Instead of the usual five-player team format, Valentine had a six-person team format. This means that the top four varsity golfers make up the team score out of six scores. The Huskies were led by sophomore Catarina Ketteler with a 111. She finished in 10th place to medal. Brooklynn Butterfield and Landyn Mlady both shot a 120. Abby Mathis shot a 125. Rounding out the varsity team, Brynn Hilkemeier had a 128 and Brianna Anderson had a 169. The JV squad was Ella Schulte with a 153 and Autumn Hoppe with a 121.

In the team results, Valentine edged out O’Neill by three strokes. The badgers shot a 394. On top of a close team race, there was a sudden death playoff for first place. There were four individuals who shot a 93. Olivia Jarman of O’Neill won.

The Huskies continue their busy schedule as they start to move toward the end of their regular season. They will play in a triangular on September 23 in Ainsworth at 4:00 pm. On Saturday, September 25 the Huskies head to Laurel for a 9:00 am tournament. West Holt ends their regular season in Cairo on September 30.
