Husky Golfers Take 4th at Battle Creek

Coach Kuchar

September 13, 2021

West Holt golfers headed to Evergreen Hill Golf Course on Monday, September 13 for the Battle Creek Meet. Twelve teams competed. It was West Point-Beemer, O’Neill, Battle Creek, West Holt, Wayne, Cedar Catholic, Clarkson/Leigh, Crofton, Norfolk JV, Battle Creek JV, Norfolk Catholic, and Winnebago.

In the team results, West Point-Beemer led all teams with a score of 389. Also breaking the 400 mark, O’Neill shot a 396 to earn runner-up honors. West Holt finished in 4th place with a 465.

Individually, medalist honors went to Brook Diekemper with a 77. She won largely with a 12-stroke margin over runner-up Kaylin Gaughenbaugh of O’Neill. West Holt did not have any medalists, but had some individuals narrowly miss medaling. Catarina Ketteler led the team with a 110. Rounding out the team was Autumn Hoppe, 116; Brynn Hilkemeier, 118; Abby Mathis, 121; and Brooklynn Butterfield, 133.

The varsity team has been very busy; having had three meets in the last five days. They came out and were very consistent over the last three tournaments. Four of the varsity players are in their first year of golf and there has been a lot of growth and learning throughout the first half of the season.

West Holt will be hosting a quad on Thursday, September 16 with Valentine, Ainsworth, and O’Neill. This will take place at 4:00 pm at Atkinson-Stuart Country Club. Then on Saturday, the team heads to Albion for the Boone Central Invitational.
