Public Input Requested for WHPS to Receive ARP (American Recovery Plan) Funds

July 09, 2021

On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed into law the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021, which will deliver critical aid to states (as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia), districts, schools, educators, students, and families as the country continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

ARP ESSER (ESSER III) funds will allow Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to enact appropriate measures to help schools.

West Holt Public Schools will be allocated $479,106 through the ARP Act of 2021.  To receive these funds our school district must accomplish some tasks and one of those tasks is to gain public input on both our "Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services" Plan and how we should be planning to spend the funds allocated to the district.  Please review the links below and give public comment through the comments section of each survey.  These surveys will remain active for at least 30 days from the publishing of this web article.

West Holt Public Schools is seeking comments and suggestions on our Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plans.  This plan is an update to our 2020-2021 School Opening Plan.  The updated plan can be accessed for your review by following the link above. Any patron wishing to give comment is person is welcome at the regular August meeting of board of education at 8:00 pm on Monday, August 9, 2021 in the board room at 1000 N. Main Street in Atkinson where we will take public comment.  If you would rather not attend this meeting, or want to share your thoughts in both ways, please complete this survey by clicking this link - Public Input Survey on the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan.

West Holt Public Schools is also seeking community input on possible uses for ARP Funds.  Per grant guidelines a minimum of 20% of these funds must be used to address learning loss through the implementation of evidence-based interventions, such as summer learning or summer enrichment, extended day, comprehensive afterschool programs, or extended school year programs, and ensure that such interventions respond to students’ academic, social, and emotional needs and address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on underrepresented student subgroups.   Our school district has been allocated $479,106 in ARP funding for use between the time of grant approval and September of 2023.  If you have questions about allowable uses, please contact the superintendent's office at (402) 925-2890.

Please complete our survey by clicking this link - survey to gather public comment from all of our stakeholders on possible uses of the district's ARP (American Recovery Plan) ESSERS III funds.
