West Holt Volleyball at Elgin Triangular

    The West Holt Volleyball JV and V teams were traveled to the Elgin Public/Elgin Pope John and Plainview Triangular on Saturday, September 28th. It was an early morning for the squads as the JV took on EPPJ beginning at 9 AM at Elgin Public High School.


The West Holt JV Team lost in three sets: 19-25, 25-15, 15-2. Leaders in scoring were: Brittany Beckwith with 10 points, Lana Hooey with 6 points, Kelcie Osborne with 5 points, Courtney Kellner with 3 points, Alexis Stracke with 1 point and Cassie Neibauer also with 1 point.  


    The West Holt Varsity had a tough time getting anything going and lost the match in two straight to EPPJ: 12-25, 14-25. Serving it up for West Holt were: Kamry Neptune with 3 points (2 aces), Jaden Mathis with 2 points, Brandi Heller with 1 point (1 ace) and Lindsey Jelinek also with 1 point (1 ace).

    The Lady Huskies had to come back and take on Plainview immediately following the loss to EPPJ.  West Holt had previously beaten Plainview earlier in the season and was able to hold on and win in 3 sets this time, as well:  25-27, 25-16, 25-23.


    Serving it up for West Holt were: Libby Wells with 11 points (2 aces), Lindsey Jelinek with 10 points (3 aces), Jaden Mathis with 9 points (2 aces), Brandi Heller with 5 points (3 aces), Kamry Neptune with 5 points and Mykenzie Daugherty with 4 points (1 ace).


    “I am proud of how we came back against Plainview but feel like we could have played better against EPPJ.  This team is capable of playing very good volleyball when we are aggressive, make good decisions and play as a team.  When we don’t do those 3 things, we struggle.” Coach Teresa Ruppert commented
