After a weekend off and an hour-later start time than usual, the West Holt Speech Team was ready for some competition. With several members absent, who were cheering on our state wrestlers, we were still able to garner the championship trophy with a slim one-point lead.
Varsity medalists included the following:
OID-Miranda Bendig, Brent Lemmer, Bailey Boh & Ceara Curtis 2nd
Poetry-Dawson Borer 6th
Duet Acting-Bailey Boh & Chase Harrison 2nd, and Devon Dohrman & Blake Hilkemeier 1st
Humorous Prose-Devon Dohrman 5th
Serious Prose-Chase Harrison 3rd and Kyla Wallinger 1st
Persuasive-Carlie Wetzel 5th
Novice medalists included the following:
Humorous Prose-Jocelyn Hamilton 1st
Informative-Jocelyn Hamilton 1st
Entertainment-Justice May 2nd
Persuasive-Grant Neuverth 1st
Extemporaneous-Grant Neuverth 1st
Other competitors included Brandon Jelinek, Anna Meyer, Mykenzie Daugherty, Lindsey Jelinek, and Gabby Wright.
The next week will be very busy as we will be attending three meets: Friday, Feb. 24 at Lutheran High Northeast in Norfolk; Saturday, Feb. 25 in Elgin; and Monday, Feb. 27 NVC at Lynch.
