VOLLEYBALL JAMBOREE- West Holt vs Stuart – 8-20-2018

The West Holt volleyball team started off their season with a 5 set victory over Stuart on Monday, August 20th.  The Lady Huskies traveled to Stuart to participate in the first Volleyball Jamboree either school has participated in.  The Jamboree was held to give the teams an “extra” game and to raise funds for the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame Foundation.  Results of the game will not be counted into the school’s regular season record or wild-card-point averages.

WEST HOLT Volleyball Triangular – Thursday, August 23rd, 2018

The West Holt Lady Huskies began their regular season with a triangular at home with games against Elkhorn Valley and Clearwater/Orchard.  West Holt lost 0-2 against Elkhorn Valley 9-25, 12-25.  West Holt first year coach, Teresa Ruppert, said “Our girls played scared and tentative against a talented Elkhorn team.  Serving is a strength for us and we missed a lot of them.  You just can’t do that and win games against a team like Elkhorn Valley.”  Lindsey Jelinek led the team in hitting with 3 kills, while Libby Wells had 5 digs.  Peyton Randolph had 6 set assists.

In the second match of the evening, West Holt took on Clearwater/Orchard.  The Lady Huskies battled but came up short losing 22-25, 26-28.  “Our game against Clearwater/Orchard was much better than our game against EV.  We were more relaxed and we played like we know how to play.  I am very proud of the way the girls came back the second match and never quit.  Our serving was much improved, as well.  This team plays so well as a team and if they continue to work hard and play “together”, we can do some really good things.” West Holt travels to Basset for a triangular on Thursday, August 20th where they will play Burwell and North Central.
