West Holt 35  Neligh-Oakdale 44

Coach Neptune

November 06, 2019

The first round of the playoffs got started and the West Holt Huskies came out like gangbusters in the 1st quarter as they scored 27 unanswered points.  However, the Warriors didn’t quit and had a 44 point unanswered steak of their own.  Man the way we started as a coach your like ok here we go let’s get this thing done and then all of a sudden you look up and your behind and it's like someone just kicked you in the shin bone.  I knew this would be an evenly matched game and whoever can finish would win.  Our kids did exactly what we wanted them to but Neligh just made a couple more plays than we did.  I felt like we could move the ball on them and we did but we also committed 3 turnovers that stopped drives and some flags in which 1 penalty cost us another score.   In the playoffs, you can’t have many mistakes and unfortunately, we made too many.  I bet if you asked a lot of people around the state that the way we started (0-2) on the season to win 6 straight and a district title a lot of people would have laughed at you.  Our kids finally came together in the 3rd game of the year became a team and did some amazing things throughout the remainder of the season. I told them that if we would get me’s out of here and have more we’s then good things will come.  If we can continue that motto WE over ME for the rest of my tenure here then I have no doubt that these young people will go far.  Thank you all for the wonderful support this year and to the players for hanging in there and becoming the team, I knew you could be.
