JV Huskies Take 4
February 12, 2018
To start a busy week, the Huskies hosted O'Neill on Monday night and earned a 63-32 win. After close first quarter, we held a 13-11 lead, but as the game wore on, we turned up the defensive intensity to hold the Eagles to single-digit scoring in each of the remaining three periods and to create energy on the offensive end of the floor. On the night, nine Huskies collaborated for 19 steals, and overall, we forced O'Neill into 26 turnovers. Offensively, we shared the ball well and had balanced scoring, with 9 players handing out 20 assists and 12 Huskies chipping in points.

On the following night, the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars came to town, and once again our defense set the tone as we used full court pressure to build a 25-3 lead at the end of one quarter, which we stretched to 48-10 at half-time. In the second half, the pace of play slowed for both teams and scoring was limited, but in the end, we came away with a 58-16 victory. As in our previous game, we had 9 players picking off 19 steals, and we pressured the opposition into 20+ turnovers. And again, we had good ball distribution and balanced scoring with 18 assists handed out by 8 Huskies and 9 players contributing points.
