9-10 Boys Basketball
January 01, 2018
On the morning of Saturday, December 16, the 9/10 Huskies travelled to O'Neill to compete in Old Rangeland Tournament action. In our first game, we faced O'Neill and came up short, 23-22, after four quarters of closely contested play. In the first quarter, we got off to a slow start, but as the game wore on, we started picking it up on defense, hitting the boards more aggressively, and winning more 50-50 balls. In the fourth quarter, we had several chances to take the lead, but costly turnovers and missed scoring opportunities kept us from getting over the hump and earning the W.

Our second game of the morning pitted us against Valentine in the consolation bracket. While we started strong and kept the score close in the first quarter, the Badgers extended their lead in the second quarter, and we trailed 20-9 at halftime. In the second half, we played hard, but we just couldn't get things going our way, and Valentine pulled away for the 40-17 win.
Even though we went 0-2 for the day, we saw several players do good things and contribute positive minutes, got our younger players valuable game experience, and discovered some aspects of our game that we can improve upon. The lessons we learn now will serve to make us stronger as a team in the future.
