JV Open At Home

by Coach Ludwig

December 11, 2017

In their first home game of the season, the Husky JV started out strong and garnered a victory against Burwell on Saturday night.  Using full-court defensive pressure to start the game, we were able to get several steals and force the Longhorns into committing turnovers that we converted into points on the offensive end.  By the end of the first quarter, we had built a 15-3 lead, but in the second quarter the scoring evened out a bit, and we went into the locker room up 29-18.  Both teams came out ready to play in the second half, and good defense by both squads limited scoring opportunities.  Going in to the fourth quarter, we were up 41-27, and a high-scoring final eight minutes resulted in a 59-46 Husky win.  Throughout the game, we played hard defensively, earning 18 steals and causing 31 Longhorn turnovers.  We also shared the ball well offensively, with seven different players combining for 18 assists, and 10 players getting into the scoring column.  Next up for the Huskies will be the Renegades of CWC on Tuesday, a 9/10 tournament in O'Neill on Saturday morning, and a JV road game at Battle Creek on Saturday afternoon.  It will be a busy week, and we hope to keep improving our play every time we take the court.
