Geography Bee Winner

The National Geographic’s 28th Annual Geography Bee was held for all 4th -8th grade students at West Holt on Wednesday, January 6th.  The competition started with approximately 130 students and each round whittled us down until we were left with two students for the Championship Round.  The students were 8th grader, Ben Slaymaker and 8th grader, Hannah Brotsky.  They both had a chance to answer the final three questions and Hannah Brotsky proved to be the winner, two to one. Hannah will now take the state qualifying bee test in the next couple weeks in an attempt to qualify for the state bee. We will have to wait to hear if she does well enough to make it to the State Geography Bee, which will be held on Friday, April 1st in Omaha.

Congratulations also goes out to the other finalists in the Top 10:  Matthew Pardon, Elle Burkinshaw, Mary Belle Hamilton, Martin Wentworth, Rylee Poessnecker, Courtney Poessnecker, Joseph Seger and Jaegher Ogden.  Top 20 were: Asher McCart, Taylor Schaaf, Sierra Schartz, Violet Schwager, Garrison Hansen, Aaron Kraus, Paige Janzing, Kamry Neptune and Justin Cosaert.
